If you want to bet sports in any serious way, you have to understand where the lines come from, how they get made, how they move, why they move, what causes them to be where they are. Because to me, whenever I hear somebody who’s like a recreational better or doesn’t really know exactly what they’re doing right, I always hear fallacies about where lines come from from them and their whole logic ends up getting thrown off because they’re basing it on a concept of where that number comes from that’s just not right. And then everything comes from there. So, everything, all of their logical conclusions are all wrong too because it’s all based on an incorrect understanding of where lines come from.
Ed Miller is a best-selling author on poker and gambling. This is the first time he’s written on sports betting and is possibly his favorite book so far.
Matthew Davidow is an experienced sports modeler and has co-founded two private sports analytics firms including in-play odds provider Deck Prism Sports.
